LSCS
LSCS, or Lower Segment Cesarean Section, is a surgical method for childbirth involving an incision in the lower part of the uterus. It’s commonly performed when vaginal delivery poses risks to the mother or baby’s health
Procedure: During an LSCS, an incision is made in the lower segment of the uterus, typically below the level of the bladder, to access and deliver the baby. The incision can be horizontal (transverse) or vertical (longitudinal), depending on various factors such as the position of the baby, previous surgeries, and the urgency of the situation.
Indications : LSCS may be performed when vaginal delivery is not possible or safe for the mother or the baby due to various reasons, including fetal distress, breech presentation, placenta previa, cephalopelvic disproportion, or other medical complications.
Anesthesia : LSCS may be performed when vaginal delivery is not possible or safe for the mother or the baby due to various reasons, including fetal distress, breech presentation, placenta previa, cephalopelvic disproportion, or other medical complications.
Recovery :After the delivery, the mother is monitored closely in the hospital for a few days to ensure proper healing of the incision and to manage any potential complications. Pain management, wound care, and breastfeeding support are provided as needed during the recovery period.
Risks and Complications : Like any surgical procedure, LSCS carries certain risks, including infection, bleeding, damage to surrounding organs, blood clots, and complications related to anesthesia. Proper preoperative assessment, surgical technique, and postoperative care are essential to minimize these risks.
LSCS is a commonly performed procedure worldwide and can be a life-saving intervention when indicated. However, it is generally recommended to discuss the risks and benefits with a healthcare provider and consider it as an option when vaginal delivery is not feasible or safe
